Providing Prenatal Training & Affirming Young Lives

Young and Pregnant is a program designed, in partnership with Beautifl kids, to come alongside pregnant teenagers in Katutura during one of the most confusing and lonely times in their lives. Our aim is not only to educate, but also to encourage and love these young mothers-to-be while affirming their value and the value of the lives they are bringing into the world.
The program is carried out over several weeks and we get the opportunity to spend time with the girls at least twice a week. During the first session each week we focus on topics such as child birth, infant care, and nutrition. The other half of the sessions center around worth and value. We use the Bible as a guide to show that God is invested in mothers and their babies (Genesis 16:13) and have some fun activites such as photo shoots and baby showers.
In addition to Young and Pregnant, we continue with the ladies after the birth of their babies with the Young Mothers program. This is a four to six week parenting course to provide some guidance and mentoring for the new moms.
More important than the education that we share, we work on bringing a sense of community and hope between the girls that lasts for much longer than the weeks we have scheduled activities.
